Indications

Ellura is a traditional herbal medicine used for the prevention of recurrent acute, uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections (cystitis), without contributing to antibiotic resistance.

The active substance per capsule is 195-216 mg of extract (in the form of a dry, refined extract) from the juice of Vaccinium macrocarpon Aiton (cranberry), corresponding to 36 mg of proanthocyanidins (PAC), calculated as PAC-A2.

Posology

The recommended dose for adult women, including the elderly, is one capsule per day.

ELLURA capsules are a non-prescription medicine. Each capsule contains 195-216 mg of extract (in the form of a dry, refined extract) from the juice of Vaccinium macrocarpon Aiton (cranberry), corresponding to 36 mg of proanthocyanidins (PAC). Therapeutic indication: Used for the prevention of recurrent acute, uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections (cystitis). It is a traditional herbal medicine for use in the specified indication(s), based exclusively on long-standing use. Posology and method of administration: Women over 18 years of age, including the elderly: 1 capsule per day, for at least 15 consecutive days, after completing the antibiotic treatment for the last urinary infection, repeating the treatment at least 4 times per year. Warnings: Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to Vaccinium macrocarpon Aiton or any of the other ingredients. The recommended daily dose should not be exceeded. Medical advice should be sought if any of the following symptoms develop: fever, muscle stiffness, abdominal pain, back pain, haematuria, urinary retention or urinary incontinence. Medical advice should also be sought, or the usual treatment resumed, if cystitis symptoms reappear. Use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age is not recommended. Interactions: Several cases of interaction between cranberry juice and warfarin have been reported. Concomitant use of anticoagulants with Ellura, or with other products containing cranberry juice, is contraindicated. There is no evidence that the possible interaction between cranberry juice and amoxicillin or cefaclor has clinically significant effects on these antibiotics. Patients taking immunosuppressants should avoid using products containing cranberry. Patients undergoing chemotherapy are advised not to use products containing cranberry.
